Am I learning the right way, or am I a failure at hacking?

OK, so let me give you some background info first:When I was 10 I decided to learn hacking (just on the spot, kinda random and it looked cool and I found it cool). For christmas (or my bday) I got Linux Basics for Hackers as well as an Rpi. I didn't know why, but I couldn't really be bothered to do it at that age. Then when I was 11, I decided to revisit it and do it, and I only got upto chapter 3 (yeah I know very pathetic). I got distracted by a lot of things tho because I was making text-games in python at the time as well, I was making a company in school called "Technologic" which I abandoned when I became 12 (you can still find it on github at: https://ift.tt/WRwaf9J and LBFH was kinda confusing. So basically I had the book for 2 years and did almost nothing... yeah...Then at 12 I decided to really get into the book and finally get it done, when it was like the 3rd or 4th month of 2024 already, and so I decided to redo everything (start from the start). Once I got upto chapter 3 (Linux networking) I was confused by all these things like "MAC addresses", "netmasks" etc, so I decided to learn them. I did get some networking knowledge altho I barely learnt anything compared to the entire networking field, but most of my questions on the chapter did get answered. This used up around 2-3 months (yeah Im kinda slow but I wanted to learn everything VERY DEEPLY and in-depth (mistake) ). I am now currently upto chapter 5 (permissions) and its basically the end of the year so I've had the book for about 2-3 years and am only upto chapter 5, but I am doing broad learning now (so just what the command does and how to use it like LBFH teaches it).I feel like a failure and because of me not getting any progress I'm getting less interested in hacking. What should I do, and am I a failure at hacking?P.S.
