iPhone Pictures Access

Is there any way someone would be able to somehow access my pictures on my phone? I know apples supposed to pretty secure but the other day I overheard someone in one of my CS classes talking about how they can hack into someone elses iphone gallery. Havent been able to stop thinking about it.
